Dear Beloveds,

As we delve into the wisdom of Lent, turning inward in prayer and releasing thoughts that are incongruent with the Truth of what we are, we come to have a deeper sense of our path as Truth Students: to look beyond the stories we and others tell about ourselves because we know these stories do not define us; to let thoughts and feelings go because they do not reflect the highest truth about us; to trust in prayer and the inner work that leads us to Truth. Rumi knew this when he taught, “Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing there is a field. I’ll meet you there. When the soul lies down in that grass the world is too full to talk about.” A Closer Walk with God is about knowing ourselves as spiritual beings having a human experience.

This week in the Lenten Season we are following the themes that Charles Fillmore laid out for us so many years ago. You will find these affirmations in your Keeping A True Lent 2018 guidebook for Lent published by Unity World Headquarters. Starting from this past Monday:

Rev. Linda Martella-Whitsett on Twelve Powers:
“Lent is a splendid time to build my divine identity. I affirm again and again: I AM the human expression of a perfect idea in God Mind.”

Rev. Mark Fuss on Faith:
“Faith is one of my inborn faculties; I need only activate it. As I stay focused on Truth, my faith grows and develops.”

Rev. Barbara Hadley on Strength:
“I call upon my spiritual power of Strength and trust my divine capacity to persevere.”

Joyce Flowers on Wisdom:
“The Christ Light, the light of Truth, shines at the heart of my being. My thoughts are illuminated by Spirit, and my wisdom becomes clear.”

Rev. Toni Stephens Coleman on Love:
“The love I express to others is divine love, balanced with wisdom, and inexhaustible.”

Rev. Carolyne Mathlin on Power:
“I use my spiritual power to command my thoughts, feelings and beliefs. I can do all things through divine power at work in me.”

That brings us to Sunday, February 25th, and Rev. Ed Townley on Imagination:
“I fill my mind with positive imaginings. I see my life as it is meant to be: good and beautiful.”

I would invite you to go through these Affirmations slowly, one by one, and let them resonate in your being as you match their vibration and know them as true for you. Take time for yourself; slow down and get in touch with your Christ Nature this Lenten Season. You are worth it because God Loves you exactly as you already are!
