Blessings, Beloveds!

In May we are exploring what it means to Be Inspired in alignment with our Courage to Imagine series. This Sunday is Mother’s Day. A day to devote to the women who did the heavy lifting in our youth. They inspired us to do better and be more. They gave us life and then allowed God to take over in our quest to discover ourselves. They overcame; and they ask that we do the same.

Now maybe you’re one of the many folks who didn’t have a mom, or maybe you did and she wasn’t the greatest. In our quest to know ourselves, we will inevitably come across shadow areas in our psyche that can be traced back to childhood and the failings of our mothers. In hindsight we find fault.

The Key to the Kingdom, when doing the inner work, is to move through painful memories and – through forgiveness, compassion, and gratitude – use them as tools for self-discovery. There is Power in Truth. And the truth is: all relationships we enter into on this earth plane, including our relationship with our mother, are to teach us about the One Relationship we are eternally exploring.

We cannot know ourselves if we do not know God. We cannot know God if we do not know ourselves. How can these both be true? Is it the chicken or the egg? The answer is in the relationship. I am in God and God is in me. We are One.

Like the fish who questions the existence of water because it cannot conceive of anything that is everywhere present, we live, move, and have our being enveloped in and as the Presence. We do not walk alone. Ever.

Hannah More Kohaus knew this when she wrote Unity’s Prayer of Faith, first published in 1898:

God is my help in every need;
God does my every hunger feed;
God walks beside me, guides my way
Through every moment of this day.
I now am wise, I now am true,
Patient and kind, and loving, too;
All things I am, can do, and be,
Through Christ the Truth, that is in me.
God is my health, I can’t be sick;
God is my strength, unfailing, quick;
God is my all, I know no fear,
Since God and Love and Truth are here.

Affirm with me: I! Am! Inspired! Say this loudly and with force to awaken your mind to the possibilities this Affirmation will enliven in your thoughts. i. am. inspired. Say quietly, a whisper to your soul to awaken the stirrings slumbering deep within.

You are invited to join us at Unity of the Sierra on Mother’s Day to Be Inspired, to discover your Power, and to experience the Presence in community. We are Blessed! And, we would like to share our Blessing with you!
